What Makes Email Marketing So Valuable?

Email marketing done properly helps you generate more interest in your product or service, create new business, generate repeat business, and keep your overhead down. As your list grows, the value of your list grows.

The key is to make sure you manage the relationship with your subscribers so that they begin to recognize you as a leader in your industry and want to do business with you when the time comes. Email marketing is perfect for this scenario because you are able to set up regularly scheduled follow up messages that go out to your prospects over time.

You already know that your subscribers have an interest in what you are offering. This is why they subscribed to your list. Your job from that point is to let them know why they should trust you enough to spend money with you. They may not be making that purchasing decision right away but they are gathering information because they are interested in learning more.

For pennies per day, you can follow up with 3, 30, 300, or 3,000 prospects with your email marketing campaign.

As some of those prospects become customers, you can generate repeat business by letting your customers know about upgrades, bonuses, and even new products or services. Your expenses don’t go up. Don’t Just Build a List. Build a Relationship

email marketingA lot of our training here at TrafficWave.net focuses on list building and there is good reason. List building is a key strategy used by top internet marketers around the world. I firmly believe that any successful business should focus at least a portion of their marketing energy and strategy on list building.

But I also think it is important to understand how that list becomes a valuable asset to your business. If all you focus on is the size of your list, you are going to miss a lot of sales and potentially lose a lot of subscribers.

But if you focus on building a strong relationship with your list, you will build credibility, your subscribers will trust you, and that will inevitably lead to more sales.

Here are a few key principles you will need to focus on if you want to build a profitable list for email marketing:

  1. Help your subscribers solve a problem. If your email marketing message is always about trying to get money out of your subscribers, you are going to find that people begin ignoring and unsubscribing from your messages. Spend time helping your readers solve a problem. When your readers know you can help them solve a problem, they will be much more willing to buy from you.
  2. Be sure you are only selling products or services you have used. One of the reasons our Affiliate plan is available to our customers only is integrity. If you actually have experience with the product or service you are offering your subscribers, you are much more qualified to make the recommendation. Your own experience will be of more value to you and your readers than just trying to sell something because you can make money with it.
  3. Be honest with your subscribers. Get caught misleading or misrepresenting something to your readers, and your success rate is going to plummet faster than you can imagine. Be honest with your readers and build your reputation as a trustworthy resource.
  4. When you mess up, admit it. It might be a link that got typed incorrectly or some other component in your email marketing message that got messed up. When this happens, admit it. Resend the correct information with an apology and keep moving forward. Your readers will appreciate your honesty and your humility.

There is no debating that email marketing is a powerful method for increasing sales. Treat your readers with respect. Keep your information relevant. Show your readers that you have their best interest at heart. Along the way, they will be much more likely to do business with you. That is when your email marketing list becomes incredibly valuable.

Email Marketing Boosts Yoga Sales

email marketingI am often talking about how much I believe in and rely on effective email marketing. Most of the time, the conversations are about why it is so important to get started with your list building if you haven’t already done so.

In this article, I want to move the conversation forward a bit to an excellent and recent real-world example of what you can do with your list once it is built.

A dear friend of mine manages a yoga studio. We were talking about ideas for how to boost sales through the traditionally slow summer months. They’ve done newspaper advertising, Groupon, and more over the years and they were looking for something they could do without the extra expenses and time delays.

I asked her, “Does the yoga studio use email marketing?” They do. In our conversation, she decided to run an email broadcast out to their list of customers and prospects. The broadcast was a special offer for discounted yoga sessions.

End result: More new sales came in over the next few days.

Cost of the campaign: A little bit of time to put together the offer and send it out.

Think about that. Because this company had made the decision a while back to begin building their email marketing list, they were able to quickly send out an offer to their list and increase sales the very next day. All it took was a little bit of time to create the offer and send it out.

This is why I am constantly talking to small businesses about the power of email marketing and why it is so important to build your lists, build relationships with your lists, and effectively sell to your lists.

How To Be the Best Sponsor

If your goal is to refer enough customers to have your commissions offset your monthly subscription that’s awesome and we are happy to have you with us. That will be a matter of just sharing your Affiliate URL with a few of your business associates and showing them how to get an account with us. Remember: 3 Makes You Free.

This article is going to focus specifically on those Affiliates who want to create 4 and 5 figure monthly residual income by referring customers, referring other Affiliates, and working with those Affiliates to create momentum.

I am going to talk about some of the mistakes I see and I am going to talk about how to fix those mistakes and create a team that is dedicated to working together and making things happen.

The first thing to do is to make the decision that you truly want to learn and do what it takes to create a 4 or 5 figure monthly income. To give you some perspective, a 4 figure monthly income means you are earning at least $1,000 on a monthly basis. A 5 figure monthly income means you are earning at least $10,000 on a monthly basis. If that is what you want, I hope you are prepared to learn some things, maybe even unlearn some things, and lock in to creating success by following a simple pattern.

I want to be very clear that this article is intended for leaders. Leaders are focused on creating results. They take responsibility for their own actions and they take responsibility for making sure their team has access to the information they need to be successful. Leaders also get to cash Leadership Bonus checks!

We cannot force anyone to follow our example or our instruction but we can make sure that we are providing the right example and making the instructions available.

So, what are the basic things that should be happening if you want to truly create significant income as a TrafficWave Affiliate?

Use The Tools! Sounds pretty obvious, right? But I see a lot of folks who have signed up and are not even using their autoresponder tools. This is almost a sure-fire guarantee for failure.

Why should you be using your tools?

  1. Be Smart. Make that 60 cents a day expense pay for itself by using your tools to generate more leads for your business, follow up with those leads, and generate more sales. How many sales do you need to make in your business to cover $17.95 per month? Get that done, first, so you aren’t thinking about “How do I pay for my TrafficWave.net account?”. If you are selling TrafficWave to other businesses, the answer is “3”. You need 3 sales to earn enough in monthly commissions to cover your $17.95 subscription.
  2. Be The Example. When you are building your prospect lists, following up, and closing more sales, you are considerably more qualified to teach your team how to do the same in their own business. When someone says, “This doesn’t work.”, you can honestly tell them, “Sure it does. I’m getting results every day. Let’s look at how we can improve your results.” And then you are able to work with them to show them how it is done.
  3. Improve Retention. When you have people in your team who are USING the tools, their business is going to grow. It will be very easy for them to see how much sense it makes to spend 60 cents a day on powerful marketing tools. Show them how to get results in their business and they stay. Simple.

All of this has to do with your referrals from the customer perspective. By teaching your referrals how to USE the tools, you are teaching them how to make more money in their business and they are going to WANT to stay with you. It will just make good business sense.

So, now, let’s look at this from the Affiliate perspective. How do we help our Affiliates make the most of this system to create additional income?

Use The Tools. Sound familiar? Think about this for a minute. You are using these tools to build prospect lists for your business. You are using these tools to communicate with those prospects and covert them in to paying customers. You are communicating with your customers to turn them in to repeat customers. Do the same thing with your Affiliate team in TrafficWave.net!

Set up at least 1 campaign to generate leads for your TrafficWave business. These are people who own businesses, are involved in network marketing, are involved with Affiliate marketing, etc… They need to be using these tools to grow their business. AND, since they are business people, it makes sense that they would want to open up an additional income stream by referring other businesses through their Affiliate URL.

Set up at least 1 campaign to train and support your Affiliates. Share your successes. Celebrate the successes of others on your team. Invite your team to our regular webinars.

Answer your emails. I receive daily complaints from new users about a sponsor that won’t reply to an email. If you aren’t going to be available to answer questions and help them find information, they are going to leave. That’s not designed to be “mean”. It’s just a fact of business life. When someone joins you, they don’t know anything. They are saying, “I trust you enough to try this.” Teach them how to be successful by setting the example and providing the information they need.

Teach your team members how to build their own lists. I see a lot of “team builds” that are set up to help the team leader quite a bit but lack the information and support to create strong team members.

As a team leader, ask yourself this question:

Do I want a team that is relying on me to build for them or do I want a team of people working together for their individual and mutual success?

Think about this: If you have 300 people relying on you to generate sales for them, you are going to get tired, worn out, frustrated, and experience a LOT of people giving up. BUT … if you have a team of 300 people all experiencing success because they are USING the tools to build their lists and generate more sales, you will still experience some giving up but you will also experience incredible growth and momentum as your team approach creates strong individuals applying these simple strategies in their own businesses and in their TrafficWave accounts.

When I used to coach basketball, we focused a lot on helping each individual become the strongest, fastest, and most efficient basketball player they could be. We focused on ball handling drills, shooting form, offensive strategies, defensive strategies, and conditioning. Those individuals that worked on their skills found themselves playing in the games and working together as a TEAM as each member combined their individual efforts and talents to win games. We won a lot of games, together. We lost some games along the way. We won Nationals championships. Not a single one of my players ever asked me to shoot the ball for them in the game. They each learned the skills and they each took their shots. Prepare your team members to do the same. Help where needed but always focus on making your team strong by equipping them to effectively use these tools to create results in their business.

3 Steps To Getting Affiliate Marketing Results

affiliate marketingEvery Affiliate I talk to tells me they want results. Makes sense. When I talk to our Top Affiliates, they want results. When I talk to a brand new Affiliate, they want results. We all want results in our business. Sadly, far too many of us don’t know how to consistently create results.

I want to break down for you the 3 steps I believe every one of us should be taking if we want to create results in our business. These are the things I am doing on a consistent basis, myself.

  1. Train Your Mind. Skip this step and none of the other steps will matter. If you want success, you absolutely MUST get your mind right. How do I do this? I attend online and offline training events to increase my knowledge of email marketing, affiliate marketing, and list building as well as overall business and success principles. I read books by and about other successful people.It’s all about getting my mind in line with the way other successful people think. There will be tough times. There will be distractions. Life gets busy and things happen. There will be setbacks. Some of the people you thought were going to run with you never take action. Or they quit.This is why you MUST train your mind to stay focused on your goals and the processes that lead to success. Without this step, nothing else will help you. How do you spot someone with a mind trained for success? They aren’t complaining. They aren’t jumping from one program to another. They aren’t making excuses. They are attending webinars. They are reading personal development books. They are constantly learning and contributing.
  2. List Building. Affiliate marketing thrives on list building. I use free and paid traffic resources, advertising resources, traffic exchanges, social media, etc… to constantly build my list of prospects who are LOOKING FOR the kind of information I offer. In this case, I am offering information about email marketing, affiliate marketing, and the TrafficWave autoresponder system. The people I talk to are people who WANT to know more and have requested information.A targeted prospect list is an incredibly valuable business asset and should never be overlooked.How do I build my list? All of my advertising and posts direct visitors to my capture page where they can request more information. When they fill out the form, they are added to my list for follow up and they get the requested information. This happens 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.By the time I personally hear from someone, they have typically seen my videos, read my information, and may have a few questions. Maybe they just want to see if I’m real and will actually reply to an email. This makes it much easier to talk to them AND helps to disqualify those who are not serious.
  3. Content Creation. When I write articles for my blogs (like the one you are reading now), I will typically focus my content on how to solve a problem. With this blog, the content will typically be about helping businesses use email marketing to grow or about helping people create success with affiliate marketing. The articles are designed to answer questions and provide solutions. Most of the time, my articles will also include an option for visitors to request more information by filling out a form. This takes us back to Step 2.Along the way, I get to meet new people, make new contacts, even make new friends, and build my lists. This helps build credibility and good rapport. That leads to sales. Not everybody who reads my content wants to do business with me. But some do. And that is when the fun starts all over again!

Take the time to train your mind, build your lists, and create value in the market place. You will find that you can switch your focus and experience success in your network marketing business that will last for years to come.

Why Does Email Get Delayed?

email marketingEmail marketing is a powerful tool for businesses around the world. In fact, email is one of the most handy tools available to both individuals and businesses alike. It provides nearly instantaneous communication with friends, family, colleagues, and businesses all over the world.

For the most part, when you send an email, the recipient has it within a few seconds, but sometimes, that email that you really really need doesn’t show up when you expect it, and you don’t know why. To understand why emails get delayed, you have to undestand how an email is sent from one person to another.

When an email is sent, it doesn’t just go from your computer, to the recipients computer, it follows a path along the Internet, and along the way has several stops.

  1. An email is created on your computer using a email authoring tool like Outlook or by using a webmail service like Gmail.
  2. Once you click send,the message is sent to your mail server.
  3. Your mail server then looks at the email, determines where it needs to send it according to DNS records the recipient company has set up.
  4. Your mail server then sends the message to the place listed,
  5. Many times, the server listed isn’t actually the recipients mail server, it is an intermediary server set up as a spam filter or an archive server.
  6. The receiving server then forwards the message off to the real mail server
  7. The recipient then connects to their mail server and grabs the message.

(In the case where you are setting up emails to go out through your TrafficWave account, your email gets sent from our servers and the process picks up at step 2 above.)

Seems simple enough, right? Not exactly. The Internet really is a series of computers, connected via wires, fiber optics, and other computers. An email must travel long distances, and a break down at any step, or between any step can cause a delay.

Some of the most common causes for delays and failed delivery that I see are the following:

  1. User Error: It is very common for someone to mistype an email address. If you are missing an email, get in touch with the sender, and have them read you the email address they are sending to (don’t ask “did you send it to youremailaddress as they will just assume they did). If they are your subscriber in your TrafficWave campaigns, the email address has already been confirmed but can be delayed by any number of other possibilities.
  2. Spam Filters / Grey Lists / Black Lists: Spam filters are meant to block spam, but sometimes they are wrong and block a legitimate email, which means the recipient doesn’t get it, check your junk mail folder, or ask your admin to check the spam filter if you are missing something.  Double check your email messages for possible spam triggers as indicated in the following:Most Common Spam Triggers Killing Your Deliverability

  3. Internet Connectivity Problems: Sometimes things break, and broken things causes delays. A bad connection between your computer and mail server, your mail server and a DNS server, your mail server, and the recipients mail server(s), or the recipients mail server and the recipients computer can all cause delays in email delivery. Because of this, email servers have various rules they have configured to retry message delivery several times before you ever get an error that says the message could not be delivered. This can lead to delays.

The bad part about most of these delays is that there is little you, or your IT department can do about it. People make mistakes, computers make mistakes, and things break. The good part is, this article gives you a little more insight in to some of the things that can cause email delays.

Traffic To Your Web Site

No mystery here. You need to get people to your web site. Some of the techniques I have used include:

Social Media, including Facebook ads, Twitter, Youtube, Solo Ads, Traffic Exchanges, Online Advertising, Print Advertising, etc…

Getting people to your web site is critical to your success. And this brings us to the next step that a lot of people miss:

Your Opt-In Page

Opt-in pages can be simple or very involved. Personally, I keep mine pretty simple. One example is the opt-in form that appears on the right of this page. It looks like this:

Your AutoResponder

Disposable email addresses. Do you have more than one email address? Most likely you do and that’s ok. Most people do. One thing email marketers hate is when people enter the email address they never check into these optin forms. After all if people don’t check their email how can you ever make any sales? You can’t.

TYPOS: We all make mistakes. I do it all the time; especially when I am in a hurry trying to type a long email address into a box on my cell phone. Many email addresses entered into these optin pages are simply spelled wrong leaving you unable to ever reach that person again. That potential sale is gone.

Email marketing profits can only happen when your email marketing list is filled with valid email addresses from people that actually WANT your information and have confirmed that they want to receive it.

A lot of guides you read will try to tell you that building a “Huge” list is the key. I believe you will do much better to focus on quality over quantity. A smaller list of real humans that check their emails is worth much more than a massive list of bogus, dead, or ignored emails. AND you can still build a huge list with real email addresses that will be read by real humans.
