How I Built a List of 3200+ with a Hosted Capture Page

list buildingList building is critical to the success of your business. Want to build a business? Build your email marketing list.

Some of our affiliates have recently asked me for more list building tips and how to generate leads and get more referrals. I wanted to show you my own personal results using the 30 Minute List Building Challenge I created a while back.

The 30 Minute List Challenge is a guide to show you the basics of how to get started building an email marketing list, even if you have never built a list, before. You can use these same techniques to build any list to promote any offer. This is simply a great way to get started quickly and to show your referrals how to do the same.

I got the results I’m going to show you by doing all the stuff I talk about in the blog article: Email Marketing Results.

  1. I created my letters.
  2. I created my capture page.
  3. I started promoting my capture page.
From there, the system took over and I continued to focus on #3 … promoting my capture page. I had campaigns that didn’t work. I had campaigns that worked very well. I had campaigns that got very little results. I focused on the campaigns that worked very well.

I want to point out that I did not create a web site for this offer. I created a Hosted Capture Page in my back office. The whole set up took just a few minutes after I got the letters written.

The results, so far, can be seen here from just one of my campaigns:

list building

This particular campaign has generated over 3,200 leads (and counting)! As with any offer, some of those leads have purchased and some have not. I continue promoting this capture page and I am testing other marketing channels to get even more results.

The other day, I recycled my finished leads, and got even more sales along with a few more questions about the system.

This is an excellent example of putting your TrafficWave.net tools to use in building your TrafficWave.net referrals. All of this is available in your back office, right now, and costs nothing more to implement!

If you are wanting more TrafficWave.net referrals on your team, AND you want those referrals to USE the tools and STAY, I highly recommend you follow the steps laid out in the 30 Minute List Building Challenge.

Feel free to ask any questions you may have.

Update, Jan 9, 2017:

I launched a few more small campaigns via social media and my list keeps growing! It really is the simple stuff that leads to success in life, business, and email marketing.

Update, Jan 30, 2017:

How Email Marketing Can Help You Grow Your Business

$

email marketingIs Email Marketing Dead? We don’t think so! The Content Marketing Institute predicts Email marketing is going to be bigger and more important than ever to the growth of your business.

If you are new to email marketing, you may find that getting started is the biggest challenge.

With so many different ways to promote your business, one of the biggest challenges  you face is deciding which ones work and are worth putting your time and money into.

Still not sure if email marketing is a good idea? Take a look at these facts:

You probably already realize the success of your business relies on your ability to connect with people and motivate them to buy your product or service. When you use email marketing to help achieve that goal, you gain an opportunity to connect with people right where they are, build relationships, establish trust, prove your value and convince them to take action when they’re ready. In this case, action translates to sales for your business.

Let’s look at some details on how email marketing helps grow your business:

  1. Turn Your Web Site Visitors In To Customers.
Launching a website is a huge milestone for any new entrepreneur or small business owner. Once you have the site built, you start driving traffic to the site via advertising, social media, etc…

As a result, you may receive a couple hundred visitors a day, but where are the sales?

This is an area where where email marketing can help.

By adding a sign-up form to your website or blog’s homepage you can collect the email addresses from your visitors. As you communicate and show the value of your business over time in the emails you send them, you are able to build and develop those relationships so that when people are ready to make a purchase, they go to you instead of a competitor.

  2. Grow Your Potential Customer Base … even without your web site.

Do you have a brick and mortar store? Do you attend networking events and conferences where you meet potential customers? Are you an entertainer or presenter at a business conference? Make it easy for folks to join your lists. It can be as simple as having them  put their name and email address on a clipboard you have available, dropping their business card in a bowl as part of a giveaway, etc…

Building your list this way gives you even more opportunities to attract new customers and increase your reach.

  3. Increase  Web Site Traffic By Sharing New Content.

Email marketing is a great way to drive traffic back to your web site. Your subscribers are already interested in what you have to offer. That is why they joined your list. Create or identify content that your subscribers may find helpful and include an invitation for them to pick up some new tips, learn more, or just check out your products or services.

This helps you keep your brand in front of your prospects, giving them yet another reason to do business with you instead of your competitors.

  4. Boost Sales of Your Products or Services.

Beyond sending emails with new content published on your website, you can also use email marketing to promote new products, sales, or promotions.
Did you know 98 percent of people check their email every single day? With so many people frequently checking their inbox, it really just makes sense to get urgent information out to your audience.

You can influence your subscribers to take action by creating enticing subject lines with the promotion discount, or emphasize urgency by showing how much time is left for the sale.

  5. Build Customer Loyalty.

More than just a way to acquire new customers and increase sales, email marketing can also be a powerful tool for creating customer loyalty.
Highlight customer success stories or share user-generated content like social posts and images to reinforce how much you care about your individual fans.

Look for opportunities to share outstanding posts, tweets, and comments about your service or the results your customers are experiencing.

Are You Ready To Experience The Power of Email Marketing?

These are just a few of the many benefits of email marketing. There really is only one way for you to truly learn more about them. It all begins with experiencing its power for yourself.

MLM AutoResponder Strategies That Work

MLM AutoResponder Strategies

mlm autoresponderHave you been considering adopting MLM autoresponder strategies to build your network marketing business?

If so, good for you! Many successful mlm professionals know the profit is in the list so they build and nurture their lists. Chuck Holmes says, “I would give up my own downline and web sites before I gave up my auto-responder and my list.”. We think that’s pretty smart. We have all seen companies that fell by the way side. Starting over can be challenging. Starting over with your own targeted list that you have nurtured and built a relationship makes it much easier.

And when things are going well, being able to support, train, and inform your downline with your autoresponder is very valuable. The fact is: If you are serious about building your mlm business online, you really should have an autoresponder.

The simplest way to think of an autoresponder is to think of it as a system that manages your email list. When visitors to your web site fill out the form asking for more information, they are added to your list. Your autoresponder then follows up with those prospects, sending message whenever you like. If someone decides they are not interested, they click a link and your autoresponder removes them for you.

Start With A Prospect List: Your starting point would be to begin building a list of prospects. You would set up this campaign to generate leads from your web site visitors. This campaign would follow up with your prospects, helping you sort through to find customers and potential distributors. This campaign might include things like:

  • Messages explaining the products and services.
  • Messages explaining the business.
  • Answers to Frequently Asked Questions
  • Testimonials
  • Any special offers
  • Your regular newsletter

Set Up A Customer List: This list is for folks who purchase your products or services, regardless of whether or not they join your distributor team. You can send your customers special offers, announcements, etc… When your company offers a new product, a discount, or combo pack, you can let your customers know it is available by sending your email to this list. This campaign might include things like:

  • Emails training and informing about products and services
  • Answers to Frequently Asked Questions
  • Your regular newsletter
  • Special offers, discounts, seasonal offers, etc..

Set Up A Distributor List: As people join your downline, this is the list you would use to train, support, update, etc… This campaign might include things like:

  • Training emails
  • Regular tips for new distributors
  • Answers to Frequently Asked Questions
  • Updates on conference calls, training events, etc..
  • Your regular newsletter
  • Team announcements such as rank advancements.
  • If you are using the TrafficWave.net MLM Autoresponder system, you can share your letters with your downline to help them duplicate what you are doing. This makes it much easier to duplicate your efforts in your organization. In MLM, duplication is a big part of your success.

For tips on how to set up a flow of letters for your prospect list, we recommend: Guide To Creating Powerful AutoResponder Letters

Keys to remember for MLM autoresponder success:

  • Don’t overhype your offer. Educate your prospects. Offer value so that your subscribers come to know you as an expert in your field.
  • Be patient. When someone subscribes to your list, they are saying, “Let me see what you’ve got”. They are not saying, “Sign me up”. We have seen some prospects buy or join many months after subscribing. Having an automated system in place means your mlm autoresponder will send your messages automatically. Your prospects won’t forget about you if they are receiving regular valuable updates and content.
  • Recognize that most people who subscribe probably won’t end up joining. It’s still about the numbers. When the time is right for them, they will have seen your information, received your follow up messages, and fill feel more like they know a bit about you and WANT to work with you. The rest will fall away or remove themselves from your list.

AutoResponder Software – Should you buy it, build it, or rent it?

Autoresponder Software

autoresponder softwareWhen a company decides to start adding email marketing to their business strategy, the question about how to approach autoresponder software comes up pretty quickly. Should you build your own, purchase someone else’s, or subscribe to a service provider?

These are all great questions and our hope is to help you make the right decision for your business.

Should you build your own autoresponder software?

For most businesses, this is a quick “no”. Unless your business is focused on that level of technology, it makes more sense to keep your focus on your core business and let someone else handle the coding, hardware, and software support related to providing autoresponder software.

Should you purchase autoresponder software from someone else?

Again, for most businesses, this is going to be a “no”. Installing and configuring software, keeping up with updates, compliance issues, etc… can quickly take your focus away from the stuff that actually makes you money.

Should you subscribe to an autoresponder service?

For most businesses, this will make the most sense. Someone has already written all the software. Someone is handling hardware and software updates for you. Someone else is managing compliance issues. Your focus is on setting up and using the tools to focus on your business. And, your autoresponder should really serve the purpose of helping you build your business, not take your focus away from your business.

Whether you are handling your web site yourself, or one of your staff is handling it, most autoresponder services make it fairly easy to quickly integrate capture forms in to your blog or web site. You can keep your focus on driving traffic to your site while your autoresponder takes care of collecting leads and following up with prospects.

For most businesses, using an autoresponder service such as ours just makes sense.

What Is An AutoResponder?

What Is an AutoResponder?

what is an autoresponderMore and more small business operators are asking, “What is an autoresponder”?  The bigger question is “How can an autoresponder help my business grow?”. This article will help you get a better understanding of exactly what an autoresponder is and how you can use it in your business.

Autoresponders are messages (or “automatic responses”) set to go out automatically. They help you automate lead generation and sales campaigns, manage one-to-one communication with your prospects, train your sales team, and inform your customers.

The most common way to use an autoresponder is to set it up so that your follow up messages are sent to your contacts in a sequence at intervals calculated starting from the day a contact opts in to your campaign. For example, setting your timer to Day 0 would cause that message to go out instantly. A setting of 3 would cause your message to go out 3 days after the subscriber opted in to your campaign. This allows you to schedule automated follow up message to each of your subscribers.

With TrafficWave.net, you can schedule an unlimited number of follow up messages in each of your campaigns.

Another popular feature of autoresponders is the ability to schedule a broadcast. If you have a discount, a special offer, or an important update, you can set up a message to go out to all of your subscribers (or a group of subscribers you specify) at a specific date and time.

How To Get The Most Out Of Your Email Marketing Campaign

email marketing campaignThe question isn’t “should you be using an email marketing campaign?”. The question is: How do you get the most out of your email marketing campaign?

So maybe you are thinking about putting email marketing to work for your business. Good decision!

The key is to make sure you set up your email marketing campaign so well that you get the best possible outcome: Sales.

This article is designed to help you avoid come of the more common mistakes made by rookie marketers and maximize your email marketing campaign to get the best possible results.

Some of the most common mistakes made include things like:

  • Not personalizing your messages. Emails addressed to the individual receiver by name are much more likely to be opened than the same blind subject line.
  • Incorrectly personalized messages. Proofreading can help you catch little mistakes in the tokens that can cause your email to be sent to **FIRSTNAME**  instead of the actual name of your reader.
  • Incorrect links. Let’s say your message gets opened, and your subscriber reads it. They want to know more so they click your link and … get lost. Proofreading helps here, too!
  • Your messages getting routed to the spam folder. It can happen and it’s easier than you think for your messages to get routed to the spam or junk folder. When that happens, your message is lost. Check out these tips for improved deliverability to help you message get to the inbox.
  • Bouncing email addresses. Having invalid or unknown email addresses in your list can cause your deliverability rate to tank.  And many autoresponder services charge you for the size of your list, no matter how many are actually deliverable. It makes more sense to use a service that removes bouncing or unknown email addresses.

So let’s say you’ve done the research. You’ve done the proofreading. You’ve written a good subject line and it is personalized to address each reader by name. You’ve checked your links. Your list is good. Your list is clean. It’s time to send your email marketing message.

This is where the line gets drawn for many email marketing professionals. The days of just being able to send out a quick ad or offer are pretty well over. With a vast majority of email being labeled as “spam”, and a lot of valid emails falling in to boxes where people don’t actually read the message, it can be challenging.

Still, successful email marketers report outstanding ROI (Return On Investment). Some report email marketing returns as high as 4300%! So how do they do it?

Is there a secret to their success? Not really. Once all the technical and deliverability stuff is covered, the key is to use email marketing to build a strong relationship with your readers. Note that I didn’t say “sell to your readers”. They joined your list because they already want to know more about what you can do for them, how you can help them. And when you show them how you can help them, sales are going to happen.

So make sure your messages focus on providing real value to your readers. Build trust by sending them valuable relevant information so that they actually expect and watch for your email messages.

The email marketing world has become a tough place for sloppy email junkies that just send out blatant ad after ad, never providing real value, and never connecting with their readers.

But when you provide relevant and valuable information to your readers, you are giving yourself a tremendous competitive advantage.

Your readers, when they look at the many many messages in their inbox are asking, on some level: “Why would I want to read this?”. If you build a reputation that your messages are just going to be another sales pitch, your messages are getting deleted. But if your messages provide valuable information, your message has a much better chance of getting opened.

Is the technical stuff important? Absolutely! But the big difference between a technically correct email and a profit producing email marketing campaign is seen when you focus your content on providing real value to your readers. This means you are sending information that they asked for. Your message is directly focused on their goals and desires.

How Focusing On Your Readers Helps Your Business:

When your readers are looking for your emails, this makes it very easy to create traction and see results when you launch new products, enhancements, and services.

Your customers that trust you are more likely to buy from you again and again. Repeat business is much more profitable than constantly going after new business.

When your messages are being opened, your overall deliverability reputation improves. This is a huge long-term benefit that should not be overlooked.

How do you know what your readers are looking for?

Your capture page should be clear about the information you are offering. When someone requests that information, you know that is what they want to know about. Keep your message focused on the benefits you listed.

If your offers changed based on age group or specific interests, be sure to request that information. Many times, a name and email address is fine. But if you really want to target your messages, set up your forms to ask those types of questions from your visitors.

Or you can set up additional campaigns to further segment your list by interest as you move along in your email marketing.

trafficwave reviewWe’ve heard it over and over: “The Profit Is In The List”. Sometimes, it helps to see real world examples of businesses using email marketing to not only generate leads, but to close more sales. While you can find a number of sites offering a trafficwave review, we wanted to  share with you some of the stories we have received from our users.

Here are some great examples of email marketing success stories from real businesses around the world to show you how they are using TrafficWave.net Autoresponders to increase business with email marketing:

“I have used Trafficwave for years for several of my email lists and love the fact that as my list grows my payment does not. I have thousands of people on my emails lists now and am still paying the same price. Trafficwave does what I need it to do with sending autoresponders and broadcasts and for the price, you cannot beat it!”

– Shelley Hitz,
Author Coach

“I have used other autoresponder services but I prefer TrafficWave because it works very well to deliver timely content to thousands of subscribers and the price is simply the best value anywhere. I use TrafficWave to keep my business partners informed and they are able to use my email campaigns for their teams. When asked if TrafficWave makes me money I smile and say, ‘absolutely!’”

I have been an avid TrafficWave User for several years now. I find it to be a powerful, flexible, reliable service that keeps me in contact with the people on my list. It is my number one internet tool for the development of my business, my ministry and my social connections.

I use it to build my business by educating my prospects, building trust with my prospects and when those prospects become customers they are loyal.

In my ministry I am able to keep people informed, provide distance education modules and serve large group meetings with efficiency and personal attention.

And finally, as I live far from my birth place, I keep friends family and new acquaintances up to date on all we are doing.

So I use TrafficWave in all walks of my life, Professional Business development, Service to the community, and personal social circles. It is the best.

email marketing success stories“I chose TrafficWave because of the price and how easy it was to set up forms in my  WordPress blog. Now, I’m able to build my fan base, communicate with them, and stay in touch with my booking contacts.

Any time I sing, I make sure I tell fans how to join my list online and when I book new events, I can quickly let everyone know when and where we are with the click of my mouse.”

Sheri Lavo
http://www.sherilavo.com

“I began using the TrafficWave auto-responder on the front page of my web site in 2006. The auto-responder sends a free report about using press releases to promote an online business, along with follow-up messages. The auto-responder has freed me from manually responding to the hundreds of requests I receive for information every week.

TrafficWave.net has also helped me to educate and inform my prospects, to help them come to a buying decision before I ever talk to them. This has enabled me to close more sales because my prospects are more highly qualified as a result of the information they receive from the auto-responder from TrafficWave. I can spend more of my time writing, instead of prospecting and selling.”

— David M. Bresnahan, Owner
ThatPRGuy.com

I chose Trafficwave because of the simple price structure. As a beginning author, I have a limited marketing budget. I like the ease of setting up different campaigns for different books or blogs. My budget minded side of me likes knowing I’ll pay the same price whether my list is 50 or when it reaches 50,000.

I know the importance of having an autoresponder that is respected by the inboxes. I have peace of mind knowing my emails don’t end up in the SPAM or Junk folders.

Email Marketing Best Practices Guide

Email Marketing Best Practices for Best Results

email marketing best practicesEmail Marketing is one of the most cost effective ways to generate new prospects and communicate with customers. To get the best results, make sure you are using email marketing best practices.

When compared to the cost of Direct Mail, Email Marketing is considerably less expensive and can have a much larger and faster impact on immediate sales.

When done correctly, email marketing can be extremely powerful and cost effective. No other medium allows such easy and measurable access to help your business build value and credibility.

The trick is to realize that when email marketing is done incorrectly, it can also become one of the most destructive things that can happen to your business. Irresponsible email marketing can quickly erode your brand equity, alienate customers, and virtually guarantee that your prospects never buy from you.

This guide is designed to give you some insights on how you can use email marketing best practices to allow your business to make the most of your email marketing campaigns, maximize your return on investment, and truly profit from permission-based email marketing with TrafficWave.net.

It is our goal and sincere desire that you and your business effectively implement and benefit from this guide.

Feel free to distribute this guide to your business associates, team members, web site visitors, etc… provided that the information is provided as-is.

Use These Email Marketing Best Practices Tips:

Only send emails to people and businesses who have requested to receive them. Otherwise, you are spamming (sending unsolicited commercial email) which will undoubtedly get your emails blacklisted, blocked, and trashed.

Only send content that is relevant to what the receiver has requested. When someone requests information from you, they are placing their trust in you that they will receive relevant information. Violating that trust can quickly cause your prospects to unsubscribe.

Be consistent with your sending schedule, whether daily, weekly, bi-weekly. As your subscribers become familiar with your consistency, their trust in you (and your value to them) are increased.

For best results, we recommend sending business emails on Tuesdays through Thursdays. Business emails sent on Mondays can easily be lost in the weekend clutter. Business emails sent on a Friday can easily be ignored in the rush to get away from the office for the weekend.

Make your “From” name in your messages either your company name or the name of a constact person at your business. Then be consistent in using that name. Many times, the decision to open an email or not is made in a split-second. By using a name that is familiar to your subscribers, you dramatically improve the odds of having your message opened.

Avoid using all caps or multiple exclamation marks in your subject line or body. Not only does this make your message appear unprofessional but it will also trigger spam filters which will cause your messages to get blocked.

Don’t try to “trick” spam filters by doing things like adding dots to your words (like F.R.E.E.). Email companies employee staff to constantly monitor and manage filters to catch these tricks. Keep your writing professional and always write with regard to the actual human being that will be reading the message when it is opened.

Never miss an opportunity to build your list. Add subscription forms to your web site or blog. When you receive a business card, ask if you can add them to your email list. If you have a brick and mortar business location, place a signup sheet in view of your customers and offer to send them email updates, special offers, coupons, etc…

Track your click-throughs. Knowing how well your messages are generating reader interest can help you maximize your email marketing campaigns. Tracking your open rates and click-throughs helps you see which messages are getting the best responses and which messages may need some tweaking.

Keys To Successful Email Marketing:

Always use a permission-based email marketing system such as that provided by TrafficWave.net.

Decide on the type of content you will be sending such as a newsletter, coupon offers, special announcements, training, sales messages, etc… and stick to that type of content.

Add signup forms to your blog or web site so that you can start converting web site visitors in to subscribers.

Create a good email template using TrafficWave.net’s HTML Editor. Your in-house team can create a template, you can select from a pre-formatted template in your TrafficWave.net back office, or you can have one of our team create a custom template for a nominal charge.

Develop quality relevant content and begin sending your message out to your list. Continue sending relevant content to your list, making sure to keep your schedule consistent. As your list grows, you will begin to notice increased repeat traffic to your web site and/or place of business which should result on increased sales (If applicable).

Use personalization in your subject lines and content to improve open and response rates in your email marketing. This is accomplished by inserting tokens in to your body message as you create your messages in the TrafficWave.net HTML Editor.

Remind your subscribers to add your email address to their approved senders list. As major ISP’s are becoming increasingly aggressive about filtering email, you will want to be sure your subscribers can receive your messages. You can accomplish this by adding a reminder to your subscription confirmation pages, such as:

To ensure you receive the requested information, please add email@yourcompany.com to your Address Book. Thank you!

These email marketing best practices can go a long way toward helping you get the best results.

Email Marketing Tips

email marketing tipsTo make the most of email marketing in your business, we would like to share with you some powerful email marketing tips. Even with the world moving to the internet for more and more personal and business interactions, the term “email marketing” is still one of the most misunderstood disciplines when it comes to building your business brand, loyalty, and sales.

As I am out with people and the conversation comes around to them asking me what I do for a living. When I tell them I own an email marketing company, the 2 most common responses include them either getting a blank stare on their face or looking at me like I just committed some heinous act like breaking wind in public.

It seems that many people today still equate email marketing with all that ridiculous spam email we all get and wish we could somehow vaporize (along with the sender of that offending spam email).

So let’s take just a moment to clarify something before we move on. Email marketing is not about sending merciless amounts of unsolicited commercial email to unwitting and unwilling recipients.

When I refer to email marketing, I am talking about responsibly and ethically building a list of people that actually WANT to receive your information. Depending on your particular business, there are a number of ways you may want to implement your own email marketing strategy. Let’s examine just a few of the possibilities and go over some email marketing tips.

Retailers

Retailers, like any other business, thrive on new and repeat sales. The key is to be able to use email marketing to reach out to past customers, and build your prospect list by getting web site visitors to join your email marketing list.

Let’s look at an example:

Alternate Mode manufactures electronic drum and percussion instruments. This company gives web site visitors an opportunity to join their mailing list by filling out a form on their web site.

From time to time, the company may offer special promotional offers, promote music clinics, run seasonal offers, introduce new equipment, or run a liquidation event.

At any time, Alternate Mode can send an email newsletter or announcement to everyone on their list to promote these offers. This helps the company keep their name and brand in front of their customers and helps them generate additional revenues via promotional offers, liquidation sales, clinics, and promotional events.

Real Estate Professionals

Real estate professionals earn their income by connecting buyers with sellers. By creating an email list of buyers and an email list of sellers, real estate agents can quickly send out email marketing announcements about new listings, open houses, promotional events, seminars, etc…

Institutional and Commercial buyers will appreciate timely updates as new properties and opportunities become available within their market.

Restaurants

Restaurants all experience those typical “slow times”. Business can be seasonal. So how does a restaurant fill those empty seats and keep customers coming back for more? By adding customers to their own in-house email marketing list, restaurants can keep customers coming back time and time again by sending out coupons, special offers, event promotions, and more.

Most restaurants use a web site to let people know about live music, themed events, and special offers but if you are simply waiting on customers to find you online, you’re letting a lot of sales slip through the cracks.

By using email marketing to intentionally connect with past customers, you can keep those customers coming back.

Direct Sales Professionals

Direct Sales is a business model being adopted by more and more traditional businesses. The key for the direct sales representative is being able to find and present their products, services, and/or opportunity to prospects.

Email marketing allows this to be done without the stereotypical “bug your friends and family” approach.

It’s very common for direct sales professionals to have a web site that describes their particular product, service, or opportunity. By adding a form where people can request more information, direct sales pros are able to build a targeted list of people that actually WANT to learn more.

This email marketing list can then be used to send out follow-up messages, announce special offers, and promote special events.

Additionally, email marketing can be an effective way to train the sales team that is being built in any direct sales company. Success in direct sales comes down to being able to duplicate the activity throughout the entire sales organization. Email marketing lets trainers send out tips, announcements, training, updates, conference call schedules, etc.. to their entire team with the click of a button.

List Building Tips

list building tips

Looking For List Building Tips? List Building. We hear about it. We read about it. We download ebooks about it. We watch youtube videos about it. It seems that all the big gurus agree that the profit is in the list.

The big internet marketers are known for bragging about the size of their lists, and for good reason. When you have built a good list and you’ve managed that list well, you basically have your own online ATM machine. You are able to sell to your subscribers over and over again. This is why so many top internet marketers are constantly singing the praises of list building.

List building is how top internet marketers like Chase Swift are able to generate online sales with the click of a button. When he finds a product or service he believes will help his subscribers, he puts his email together and sends it to his list. His subscribers trust him and will usually at least agree to look at his offers when he sends them.

List building is how top producer  Didi Wargo is able to create online streams of income. She makes a point of sending updates, training, and motivation to her subscribers on a regular basis. Her subscribers know she is a producer and they want to know how they can become producers, too.

There is no mystery to it. List building is a critical step in online marketing success. The mystery appears to be: How do I build my list? And that is what we are going to talk about in this article of list building tips.

The fact of our real world life is that we each have 24 hours of 1,440 minutes in our days. Your subscribers and potential subscribers are in the same boat. Our big challenge is motivating our web site and blog visitors to fill out our capture forms. The key word here is “motivating”. You need a lead magnet.

You have got to give your visitors a reason to want to give you their email address and that reason has to be so powerful it outweighs all of their reasons to not give you their email address.

What’s a savvy internet marketer to do? Bribe them!

Believe me: We’ve all been bribed before. You’ve been bribed. I’ve been bribed. It works! No matter how you slice it, the basic core of the list building bribe works something like this:

“Give me your email address and I will give you something in return.”

The key to an effective bribe is to make it something your web site visitor wants.

Solve a problem.
Provide inspiration.
Give direction.

If your visitors sees your offer as something they must have, you are on the right track and your list building will go very well.

They big challenge is to decide exactly how you will bribe your visitors.

Here are some list building tips to help you bribe your way to list building success:

The Free Email Tips

The free email series is the friendly invitation that welcomes new subscribers to their seats and prepares them for what you have to offer.

This bribe presents some important aspects of your offer or information in bite-sized chunks. Your email series is delivered over several days or even weeks or months and is far more manageable for the reader than a big ebook download.

Delivered on autopilot, the reader is automatically sent an email based on a given schedule, with each email building on the one before.

Success Tip: Provide useful and engaging content that you can easily break into pieces. Using an AutoResponder like we have here at TrafficWave.net is a great way to set up and manage your email series.

Time-Saving Cheat Sheet or Template

If your goal is to share “inside information” or “how-to” tips about your topic that can easily be overlooked or missed, create a cheat sheet.

Think of your cheat sheet as the key to a box of secrets that can help make your reader instantly more productive or rapidly improve their skills.

A cheat sheet is a highly practical reference guide that outlines and shares valuable data and shortcuts, often in a visual that makes the retrieval of key information as efficient as possible.

This list building bribe is attractive to the reader because it delivers a lot of information in a very concentrated format and can quickly prove its worth, perhaps saving them hours of effort.

Success Tip: A word processor like Microsoft WordApple Pages or OpenOffice Writer is sufficient for creating a simple cheat sheet, but for a more sophisticated end product, you might require a desktop publishing package such as Adobe InDesignMicrosoft Publisher, or QuarkXPress. Alternatively, you can use a cheat sheet tool like Cheatography to generate cheat sheets based on a default template. Load the completed cheat sheet to your web hosting account and include the link to your cheat sheet in your AutoResponder letters.

Sample Offers / Previews

This one is pretty straight forward. You may be able to offer subscribers a sample of your product, video, book, or limited edition software. In exchange for their email address, they get a simple or preview of your product or service.

This is a great way to introduce prospects to your offer while you are doing your list building.

List Building Tips: Make Them an Offer They Can’t Refuse

It might sound like a lot of hard work, but building a successful email list means giving big before you receive much of anything in return.

Today’s readers are cautious and overloaded. You need to bribe them to open the door to their inboxes and then use that permission to quickly earn their time, attention and trust.

Show them that you value the relationship by sharing your best ideas for solving their problems and making their lives better and more meaningful. Help them solve the problems they struggle with and reach their goals.

If you are committed to your readers’ success, they will take notice. They will see the value you offer and will want to stick around for more of the same. And if they think their friends and followers can also benefit from your work, they just might send them your way too.

All that’s left for you to do is get to work.

So pick one of the juicy list building tips (bribes) mentioned and set aside an hour or two every day to research, write, design, or record. When your bribe is ready to go live, set up your capture page or add your capture form to your blog and start driving traffic.

A big juicy bribe proudly displayed on your sign-up box puts you one step closer to building lasting relationships with your readers.

Before you know it, you’ll be one of those gurus bragging about your subscriber numbers and people will be asking you how you did it.

How To Do Email Marketing

$

how to do email marketingIf you are new to internet marketing, you may be wondering how to do email marketing so that it builds your business and your reputation. This article is going to get you started on the basics of how to build your email marketing campaign from the ground up.

The first step is to get clear about your goals. Ultimately, you want sales but you want to understand that the role of your email marketing campaign is to generate leads. To do this, you need to get their permission to email them. When you offer a form on your site asking for their name, email, and whatever other information you want to collect, their mind instantly goes to a series of questions like:

  • What do I get when I give you my email address?
  • Are you going to spam me?
  • How often will you email me?
  • Will I get discounts?
  • Will I get a first crack at your beta?
  • Will you send me relevant offers or more junk?

If you are really interested in learning how to do email marketing that drives your company’s sales, understand that just asking for someone’s contact information isn’t going to get it done. Let them know what you are going to send them. Assure them that you will not be spamming them (and then do NOT spam them). Mention how often you will be emailing and let them know of any special offers or incentives they can expect. A smoke house in Michigan makes it clear that they send out special offers and discounts to their email subscribers that are not available anywhere else.

Getting there permission to send them your information is the first step. When they fill out the form, they are saying, “Ok, I’ll take a look.”. Congratulations! Your list building has begun.

The next step is to manage expectations. Stick to the content and terms you set up when they gave you their email address. Keep the information relevant, and make sure you are providing solutions for your readers; not just another sales pitch.  If your call to action is strong and your follow-up is consistent, you can expect good results. If you offered to email them weekly and you are sending emails every day, be prepared to see a lot of remove requests. If you offered to email them weekly and you let months go by without emailing them, be prepared to see a lot of remove requests, bouncing emails, and a dead email marketing campaign.

The first email you send should be thanking them for subscribing, reminding them what you will be sending, and giving them a link to your offer, presentation, download, etc…

Your followup messages should be a mixture of updates, education, and presentation.

How To Build an Email List

Email List Building Is Important For ANY Business Owner

email listShould you build an email list? If you are running a business … ANY business … whether offline or online, you absolutely NEED a way to stay in touch with prospects and customers. Just makes sense, right?

Now think about this: Pretty much everybody you know and anybody that could potentially do business with you has an email address. So building an email list of people that you can talk to about you business is a cost-effective no-brainer solution. That just makes sense too, doesn’t it?

So even if you have never built an email list, don’t have an email list, or have a small email list, NOW is the time to get started. Too many people seem to be waiting for the “perfect” time. That perfect time is NOW. A lot of people like to say, “Well, wait until I … ” or “I will start building my list after I … “. Stop it. The time to get started is right now.

If you do not yet have an email marketing list manager, we highly recommend TrafficWave.net. Thousands of business around the world are using this powerful service to build, manage, and profit from their own email marketing lists.

Personally, I’ve used email marketing to build and manage my own lists for more than 15 years. I’ve built lists for digital services such as online advertising, and email marketing. I’ve built lists for consumables like coffee and tea. I’ve built lists for entertainment projects. With each of these projects, the list itself was a huge factor in the success of my campaigns.

When I want to sell more advertising, I send out a special offer and invitation to my email marketing list for online advertising.

When I want to sell more email marketing services, I send out an offer to my list of email marketing prospects.

When I want to sell more coffee and tea, I send out a special offer an incentive to my list for coffee and tea enthusiasts.

When I want to invite guests to come hear me perform with one of the local bands I play with in the Houston area, I send out an announcement to my list of folks that want to know where I’m playing next.

Take a look at those last few paragraphs and really let something sink in. Using email marketing AutoResponders, I am able to build and manage lists for a variety of offers. The system works for me 24 hours a day, generating new prospects, following up with those prospects, communicating with my subscribers, and generating sales. This is all going on 24 hours a day, 7 days a week! And with the exception of my music entertainment list, it is happening all over the world!

Email marketing is the most efficient and cost-effective form of marketing your business can use to increase sales while reducing costs at the same time!

Why? Once you build a list, you have it. You can keep mailing to it over and over again. You can continue building your lists while you are mailing to your lists.

Email List Building is NOT Complicated!

A lot of people ask me if building an email marketing list is complicated. I have people tell me all the time, “I could never figure that out.”.

Stop it. Right now, you are reading this article. There was a time when you wouldn’t have been able to read this article. But you started learning. You found out about the letter “A”,  and then the letter “B”. You learned 26 letters. TWENTY-SIX! Then you started putting those letters together to make words.

Remember: There was a time when you couldn’t spell your name! Now, you sit here reading this full article because you learned. You started with the basics. You struggled here and there. You had to go slow at first. Then you got faster. Now, you just read like it’s something you were born with. But you started out knowing NOTHING.

Learning how to build and manage your email marketing lists will be the same way. You will start with the basics. You’ll use what you know. You will add more knowledge. You will learn more techniques and tools. You will become better and better at it. Then, the day comes when you are a pro and other people start asking you, “How did you DO that?!?”.

So let’s look at some of the basics involved with learning Email Marketing. Your first step is, of course, to open up an email marketing account with TrafficWave.net. As a business, you are ready to dig in to the power of email marketing and you are ready to spend less than sixty cents a day to get that started. In fact, we are going to give you full access to our system absolutely free for the next 30 days.

Your goal is to spend a little time during those 30 days learning the system, setting up your email marketing campaign, and begin building your email marketing list.

So we are not looking at a budgetary decision. Any business can spend less than 60 cents a day on powerful email marketing technology. And, remember: You are starting out absolutely free for your first 30 days. So “Can I afford it” is not a question that needs to be asked.

Consider this. If you use your 30 Day Free Trial period properly, the end result is that you will begin building your email marketing list and the sales you generate should more than cover a marketing cost of less than 60 cents a day! Your business probably spent a lot more than 60 cents a day on advertising last week, right? What you are about to learn is going to help you make that advertising even more effective. So, again. We’re looking at something that just makes good business sense. This is not a budget based decision.

So register for your 30 Day Free Trial. You will have full access to the tools, the system, and the training.

AutoResponder Letters: Create Powerful Letters and Get Results

autoresponder lettersEmail Marketing AutoResponder letters are powerful tools. Successful online marketers use them to automate repetitive sales tasks, build and manage multiple prospect lists, and send out regular articles, updates, and announcements.

More than providing an automated response to an inquiry, AutoResponders can be your own automated sales force working online 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Used properly, AutoResponder letters can automate the process of building your lists, following up with your prospects, and helping you close more sales.

Let’s look at how someone might use AutoResponder letters to help build a list of targeted prospects.

The first step is to create 5 to 7 messages about your offer and add them to your AutoResponder Campaign.

Before you get started writing letters, you need to ask yourself a very critical question: “What problem am I solving?” This doesn’t have to be a big involved answer but you do need an answer.

The big mistake I see people make is that they start with asking, “How do I get more sales?” or “How do I get more leads?”. Of course you want more lead and more sales. These will come IF you learn to ask the right questions of your readers. The question you absolutely MUST ask yourself is, “What problem am I solving?” or “What problem can I help people solve?”.

When you figure out how to solve a problem for someone, and you can show them how to solve it, you will want to focus all of your writing (for your capture pages and your letters) on letting folks know how you can solve that problem for them. Don’t forget to use lead magnets to entice visitors to fill out your form.

As a result, you will generate more leads and convert those leads in to customers. Always ask how you can help your prospects solve a problem. Then show them how to solve the problem.

So let’s get in to creating your AutoResponder letters. These are the letters your AutoResponder will send once someone subscribes to your list by filling out your capture form.

These messages can be set to go out every 2 days.. With 7 messages, your prospects would receive your autoresponder letters over a 2 week period.

Here is a simple guideline you can use to create your own autoresponder letters:

Message 1: Sent Out Immediately.

In this message you would thank them for requesting your information. Give them a brief history about yourself to build some credibility. They need to know you are qualified to share the information with them. Then give them an overview of the information you are offering.

Be sure to include a link to your web site so they can get further details, place an order, or contact you for more information.

It’s also a good idea to include your name and email address. Include a phone number if you want prospects to call you.

Message 2: Sent Out 2 Days Later.

In this message, you may want to give them a brief reminder of what you covered in your first message and focus on the benefits of your offer. What’s in it for them? How is your product, service, or opportunity different from others? Use this message to let them know.

And be sure to invite them to your web site, include the link to your site, and include your name and email address so they can contact you.

Message 3: Sent Out 2 Days Later.

This might be a good place to include some testimonials from your company or a little more of your own personal story. If you are new and haven’t quite created your own story yet, share success stories and testimonials from others that have used your products or services. Give an overview of how people are using your product or service. If you are promoting an affiliate plan, explain how others are building their income with your plan.

And, as always, be sure to invite them to your web site. Include the URL and include your name and email address so prospects can contact you.

Message 4: Sent Out 2 Days Later.

In this message, pick one feature in particular to focus on. Maybe it’s about how your offer can help them save money, be more productive, lose weight, make money, etc…

Remind them that you are available to answer questions and provide support.

And, as always, be sure to invite them to your web site. Include the URL and include your name and email address so prospects can contact you.

Message 5: Sent Out 2 Days Later.

Use this message to be a little more personal. Let your prospects know that you are available to help them in any way you can. This message could be used to simply thank them again for requesting your information and assuring them that you are a real human being and interested in helping them succeed.

And, as always, be sure to invite them to your web site. Include the URL and include your name and email address so prospects can contact you.

Message 6: Sent Out 2 Days Later.

Use this message to stress another set of features from your offer. Share a few more testimonials from others or from your own experiences with your product, service, or opportunity.

Briefly review some of the details you have shared from previous letters.

And, as always, be sure to invite them to your web site. Include the URL and include your name and email address so prospects can contact you.

Message 7: Sent Out 2 Days Later.

This message can be used to ask for some feedback from your prospects. Tell them you have enjoyed sending the information and you hope it was helpful to them. Ask them if they have any concerns or what might be preventing them from making the decision to purchase from you or join with you.

Sometimes, you will get some good feedback from folks. They may share some concerns they have or tell you why they feel your offer may not be for them at this time.

Thank them for agreeing to receive your information and let them know you are still available to answer any questions they may have.

And, as always, be sure to invite them to your web site. Include the URL and include your name and email address so prospects can contact you.

Now That Your Letters Are Created And Ready To Go:

Once the letters are loaded in to your AutoResponder Campaign, your next step is to begin getting prospects for your AutoResponder to follow up with.

The idea here is to begin advertising to attract prospects to your offer. Give people a compelling reason to request your information. This is where you want to start thinking like your prospects. You are asking them for at least a name and email address. What are you giving them in return?

Maybe your information shows them how to start and profit from their own home based business. Maybe you are offering tips on how to better protect their identity. Maybe you are offering weight loss tips or nutritional information. Maybe you are offering information on how to promote a web site.

Since I sell AutoResponders, I offer prospects free information to show them how AutoResponders can help boost their online sales.

I have added a subscription form to my web sites.

I use lead capture pages.

I include my email subscription address in my ads.

I include my email subscription address and/or my URL in discussion forum posts.

Then I focus all of my advertising on my lead capture pages so that people will request more information from me. I don’t try to sell them up front. I want to capture their information first. THEN I will focus on following up to close the sale.

As people request your information by filling out your subscription forms or emailing your AutoResponder, their information is captured in your database.

Now your AutoResponder goes to work sending out your autoresponder letters.

For the next two weeks, your prospects will be receiving your sales letters. You don’t have to remember to send them out. You don’t have to remember which prospect has received which letter. Your AutoResponder is working for you behind the scenes.

Now your focus should be on three things:

  1. Continuing to advertise to get more prospects in to your AutoResponder
  2. Using the feedback you get from prospects to adjust your letters.
  3. Segmenting and following up with your subscribers.

You may need to make a few changes. Maybe you see a recurring question from prospects. That recurring question is letting you know that you may need to cover that information a little better or more in depth.

This is just a simple guideline you can use to create your own follow-up messages for your AutoResponder. You may use more letters or less. The average for successful marketers seems to be in the 5 to 9 range.

Notice that each letter ended with a “call to action” where you invite the prospect to your web site or to contact you for more information.

This “call to action” is a critical element to the success of your messages. You must let prospects know what to do next and how to do it.

Proofread via email

proofread via emailWhen creating your email marketing messages, use the proofread via email option to make sure your messages are going to look the way you want them to when they get sent.

Clicking the proofread option on any of your email message subject lines gives you a screen with the layout and content of your message.  You can also select the option to highlight any tokens you are using in you message and even have the system include sample data.

This is a great way to double check and proofread your work when emailing html messages.

Did you know you can also send a proofread copy of your message to your email addresses? This can be very helpful in understanding how your messages will look from one email provider to another.

For example, an email that looks great in gmail may not look the same in hotmail or yahoo.

To set up different email addresses you can use for proofread via email, log in to your back office. Along the top of your screen, you will see the blue bar. Mouse over “AutoResponder” and click “Validated Email  Addresses”.

You will see any validated email addresses and a button labeled “Validate New Email Address”.  Click that button and enter your new email address in the form that pops up. Click “Submit”.
